• The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed as 01-01-2026 in accordance with the provisions of the DoP&T OM No. 14017/70/87-Estt.(RR) dated 14-07-1988.
• Accordingly, the age of the candidate must be 18-23 years as on 01-01-2026.
• candidates born not before 02-01-2003 and not later than 01-01-2008).

Computer Based Examination:

• The Computer Based Examination will consist ofone Objective Type Paper containing 80 questions carrying 2 marks each with thefollowing composition:

General Intelligence and Reasoning:

• Analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns will be tested through questions principally of non-verbal type.
• This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.

General Knowledge and General Awareness:

• Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him.
• Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.
• The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
• These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Elementary Mathematics:

• This Section will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and the relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

English/ Hindi:

• Candidates’ ability to understand basic English/Hindi and their basic comprehension will be tested.

PET / PST For SSC GD Constable

SSC Constable GD Selection Process 2026

• All candidates whose online applications are found to be in order will be called to appear in the Computer Based Examination (CBE).
• Written Exam Duration : 60 Minutes.
• The questions in all the components will be of Matriculation level.
• There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
• The computer–based examination will be conducted in English and Hindi only.
• The Computer based examination will consist of one objective type paper containing 80 questions carrying 2 marks each, with the following composition:
• Male and female candidates will be shortlisted state-wise, area-wise and category wise based on their merit in the Computer Based Examination (including NCC bonus marks, if applicable) for appearing in the PET/PST.
• The number of candidates shortlisted for PET/PST based on their merit in the Computer Based Examination will be about 8 (Eight) times the number of vacancies to be filled up in the Recruitment Examination.
• More number of candidates can be shortlisted against the vacancies of SSF.
• The candidates, who are successful in the PET/PST, will be considered eligible for shortlisting to the next stage i.e., Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/ Document Verification (DV).
•  Male and female candidates, who qualify the PET/PST, will be shortlisted statewise, area-wise and category-wise based on their merit in the Computer Based Examination (including NCC bonus marks, if applicable) for appearing in the DME/ DV.
• The number of candidates shortlisted for the DME/ DV based on their merit in the Computer Based Examination will be about 2 (Two) times the number of vacancies. More number of candidates can be shortlisted against the vacancies of SSF.
• Document Verification (i.e., collection of the required eligibility certificates/ documents from the candidates and their verification with original documents) will be conducted by the CAPFs along with the Detailed Medical Examination.
